It is functional modernist tableware. Recognising the science-fiction connection takes a very particular dinner guest.
Arne Jacobsen’s spare, sculptural cutlery appeared in 2001: A Space Odyssey. The design still works as everyday tableware: no film logos, no replica stand, just a very deliberate place setting. Georg Jensen’s current 24-piece set brings that design family to a table for six; it is not a set used during filming.
This listing is the matte stainless-steel 24-piece set, item 3355524: six each of dinner knife, fork, dinner spoon and teaspoon. Check the piece count when comparing offers. Georg Jensen lists it as dishwasher-safe. The film connection belongs to the design, not every piece in this modern retail set.
